Connecting fan to heat exchangers?

The old black hoses are shot so they need replacing, so are the down pipes that go to the heat exchangers. I can't find the down pipes anywhere, is there a way around this?

 

What engine?

 

It's a 2.0 type 4. It's got an oval down pipe on the right and a round on the left.

 

oval on the right side looking at the engine from the rear? is your van american?

 

No it's rhd 1980 devon moonraker.

 

You can buy replacements new, they're not very expensive.

 

Do you know where I can get them? I've tried, justkampers,heritage, machine 7, German camper, schofield, megabugvw and status and they don't have any.

 

They all sell the heat exchangers but not the down pipes. I wouldn't like to take the hose through the tinware and connect to the e xchanger in case I t caught fire.

 

i couldn't find new, took me ages to source them - especially the right side one.

 

Heritage I'm sure sell them, they definately do the round to oval type as i got one from there. Worst ways the oval end can be made round..... it's flexible!

 

Oh and it was the right side they had, but as i said, oval...... squash it round.

 

i think you're on about the flexi pipes - the corrugated bit that goes to the fan? i think the o/p means the metal riser pipe that goes to the exchanger and pokes just through the tin.

 

It's the right side oval that's worse its rusted away from the retaining nut.

 

Your right ricky, that's exactly what I mean. Have you noticed they sell everything else bar the down pipes which makes me think it must be dine some other way.

yep probably, they are about but it took me ages to find in the uk.
