Confirmation of Historic Vehicle status

The DVLA are only interested in when a vehicle was registered, not when it was built.

 

mine was given historic based on the fact it was built in 1977

 

I applied for those VW date of manufacture letters for both of my Brazzers, even though mine were dated 2002 and 2009 respectively.

They must have wondered why I wanted them, but if it's free I'm having some of it.

 

Exactly how mine was done , didn`t even need a certificate from VW ...

Build date is all that matters , that`s why many opt for a proof of build certificate from Wolfsberg .

 

You missed my point. What the DVLA will have on record (and the Post Office will use on their system) is the date of registration, hence the need to prove to them when it was built. They obviously won't have a record of the build date themselves, as making stuff doesn't concern them.

 

Point taken , it`s a pain when the process involves hoop jumping for something so simple ...

 

Similarly, I received an identical V5c, and am looking forward to taxing it next year.

 

In my case there was a big gap between biild October 1973 and first reg. March 1975..

I think it had something to do with the Oil Crisis and Devon having to build up strategic stocks of Weetabix and glue to replace the plywood they would have used if my bus had been converted and sold straight away.

 

I think around that time Devon lost the old teaspoon they used for drilling holes, hence the delay.

 

Well, the DVLA moves in mysterious ways. Having got a new V5C couple of weeks ago (which looked like it had been printed on old bog paper), another one turned up today with HISTORIC VEHICLE as taxation class. Yaaay!

 

@crossy2112 hips are 1980s, his false teeth are 1970s , and he had a boob reduction in the 90s so what year was he built?
