Classification of "camper"?

  1. I thought owning a camper was about getting away from it all ... so why the HELL would you want to drive it to that there London? (@rickyrooo1 lives in Notbirmingham).

That is a very good question. lol
Mind you I used to love driving through central London 30 years ago, lawless, but everyone got there - Hyde Park Corner was a favourite on my route.

  3. Errr... some people live here. In which case there's arguably even more reason to own a camper.

Used to be fun, 50+ mph at night and no one batted an eyelid... not any more - all 20mph and speed humps everywhere. Most of the good cut-throughs have been closed off, too so it's all congested main roads - even in the middle of the night. Only fun way to get around London is on two wheels now... we only drive if we need to. It's amazing how many people insist on driving in to work every day though, sitting in traffic the whole time - I couldn't do it.

I used to do Ladbrooke Grove where I was working to Brixton Hill (musical recording) at about 7pm and back in the early hours every weekday - as you say foot hard down weaving through the traffic. I actually lived in Bristol. Happy days

    Bays must be weightless :)

  10. I think maybe it's done on laden weight though? I've checked quite a few diesel campers t25s, t4s,, transits etc.... Always non-compliant. Not sure.

  17. I checked and you are right again.

The odd thing is that in practice they are usually not registered as LEZ exempt if you check the reg online - even T25s that I've checked have been listed as non-compliant. When I was looking for a camper I did a lot of that and basically ruled out derv as an option. Maybe because they were never properly registered as motor homes. I'm talking about proper conversions rather than DIY jobs based on panel vans though.

I wonder if you can reclassify them. And how much ballache it is.
