Ok. Finally got around to doing further checks and discovered that if I manually pull on throttle linkage at carb the choke works !
Looks like I will have to try and increase tension in throttle cable...is their adjustment to be made elsewhe re other than on cable between pedal and lever on gearbox ? .....it's a late auto box.
    Cheers

  3. That probably means you're not getting full throttle at the carbs either.

Ooh !.........working choke and more umph...will have to give the cable a tug !

Update on situation..............throttle cable is now as tight as it can be without making engine race, but the choke still does not come on when I depress throttle.
As I have a late auto box set up, the throttle cable only goes as far as the gearbox, where a rod takes over and pulls on the carb.....if the cable is now as tight as it can go, it would appear that adjustment is required on the rod, which has a threaded end, does that make sense ?
I have ordered a Buttys Bits complete throttle set up ( sorry, Santa is bringing me a complete...) just to make sure everything at the front is as good as it can be, so
Q1. Is the threaded end of the rod used for fine tuning of overall throttle set up ?
Q2. Should the rod, where it attaches to the gearbox arm, be quite a secure fit, as mine is quite loose, as if the fastening wants tightening up.

Only asking these questions, as I don't want to make things worse !

    Cheers.

  6. Yes and yes. Do you have the spring in place at the end of the rod?

Yes, the spring is there. Will have a play after Xmas when my Buttys Bits arrive....only ordered late last night and they are on their way !
    Good service or what !

  8. are you saying that
    a) the choke dosen't come on, or
    b) the choke comes on, but the revs don't increase.

Check that the chokes are working by opening tailgate, take out bed cushion, open engine deck flap, remove air filter, then note position of choke flaps, if closed..(ish) then start up and see if they open as they warm up. Might have to gently blip throttle so they move freely. If so then its your fast idle . was it ok previously. Could be mechanical linkage adjustment., or fast idle jet adjustment afaik . Have you knocked off a vaccum pipe somewhere?

The choke works fine if operated from the engine bay...it's just a matter of adjustment.... and getting it to work from the cab.

Butty's Bits kit arrived today.............great service..........I am under strict instructions not to do any work on camper as we are going away for Xmas and New Year in van....and in the wife's words, it's working, leave well alone !
Just sat admiring the quality of the kit and stroking it gently.........
