  2. A fishcake to me (from dahn sarf) is what's known as a rissole in Sheffield.
    And when I first got to Sheff and went in a shop and asked for a sandwich, I was annoyed cos they gave it to me on a roll (sorry - breadcake). How quaint!! ;)

  7. My fave too, but I use the brine one for my family salad.
    Mrs Elswood is good but not a patch on Krakus. Costco also do a massive jar of similar that is nice.

    Beatnick Maggi sauce? That is just an additive like stock isn't it? Mot sure I would plonk that on chips? Cant remember if its loaded with MSG!

    Gravy we love that up North.
     
  8. I,m just going to look it up, Its hydrolysed vegetable protein with some MSG in it oops, tasty though.
    Im sure its better than pea wet, whats pea wet?????

  12. Didn't come across chips and gravy until we moved to the northern territories 20 odd years ago - were only served with salt and vinegar down south, still prefer them that way :)
     
  13. It's what dutch students drench their food in if my days of cheap lunches at the VERA student hangout in Groningen are any indication. It's a bit like soy sauce, very umami
