  1. Im led to believe that in Blackburn there was a move to ban the sale of scraps and they had to be disposed of as hazardous waste!
     
  2. Yep. Our chippy still uses dripping. Amazing chips, without newspaper.

  3. In the civilised world they are known as scraps. In Huddersfield they call them bits.
     
  4. We still use newspaper for window cleaning. Not sure the vinegar is necessary, just the newspaper.
     

  5. We always call them batter bits but Paul knows them as 'scraps' but he's from darn sarf...

  9. There's a chippy in Mirfield called Wi'Bits - which is Mirfield speak for "with scraps"
     
  10. That means a chippy in Blackburn would be called Ba'ht bits!
     
  11. in my family (and i thought universally) 'bits' means genitalia. chips and bits just sounds so very wrong :confused:

  12. Scraps here in Sheffield. And none of this chip barm nonsense. I'll have a breadcake. With a Yorkshire fishcake. (runs off)

  16. Although I am reminded in some parts of Pudsey they are also called teacakes
     
  17. Breads only a tea cake when it contains fruit
