Hi, I have a set of weber 36 idf's, have put them up for sale but don't think they'll be going anywhere soon. I've been doing abit of online searching for info and from what I can see the 36's are the same venturi size as the 40's at 28mm. Is that wrong or not? Also I've found out that with these I'll get better low end power rather than at the top end, which to be honest isn't really going to assist on the basis I've got an auto box. Just wondering whether to rejet and slap them on my 2 litre or get rid and look for some 45/48's?? Thanks in advance
Hey @Lardy ....I've a set of Weber IDF 40s, that come stock with 32 chokes. I rebuilt them a while back and had some 28s turned by a mate of mine (couldn't find 28s for love nor money at the time). I never really got to play with them, as Dicky lent me some Dells, in the meantime, that were good to go, so I fitted these instead. Let me know if you'd be interested in some kind of exchange...as far as I'm aware they're the same bodies...just different chokes....maximum recommended choke size for IDF 40s is 32....you can go larger, but don't think they'd function very well tbh, unless you've got a big displacement engine, big valve head etc. Basically, what I'm saying is, if you want to swap chokes and try them, let me know.... maybe think about swapping the aux venturii aswell....mine are 4.5s
Problem is if I understood any of that I'd be happy lol!!! I'll have a look at the carbs again and see what chokes etch they are. Thanks fella
