    long story short
    selling caddy to get golf
caddy on commercial policy using my no claims
can't add golf to policy so need to cancel and will only get around £80 refund to use against one of their companies (if i bin them i'll loose the refund totally)
    they quote £473!
i usually pay around £300 tops
so a quick go compare brings up £250 areas
obviously best policy is to just start fresh but with someone else
but faced with caddy not sold and golf collection imminent does anyone think a company will let me use my no claims "twice" (in effect) until the caddy goes to get the "new" quote at its real effect (with all my no claims)

  2. Pretty certain no claims bonus can only be used for one vehicle.

i am too but what i mean is i don't want to cancel the caddy policy until it sells and therefore there may be a fortnight overlap where i would not have the no claims available on the golf.....

  4. Hmmm not sure. Best bet is to call a few companies to see what they will do. Sometimes for new business they will do you a deal. On the other hand it's car insurance we are talking so they might just try and screw you over for every penny!

  5. u can still drive the caddy on the insurance u have , if u take out car insurance makes no difference to the car insurance as your insuring 2 different vehicles

  6. Most companies allow a period of up to 28 "on cover" for both vehicles.
Nominal charge of £15 when I did it 2 years ago.

yeah think i need to speak to a human rather than "baby oleg"........... that way i can explain i'll only be driving one vehicle but just need to wait until i can actually prove i have the no claims to give.

I thought usually they just ask have you had any claims or convictions in the last 5 years and as long as you answer honestly you shouldn't need to prove no claims, should apply against as many policies as you need. It would only fall down if you claimed and they found you'd lied!

  11. Nope, NCB can only be used against one vehicle and when changing to another insurer the new company will ask for proof of bonus from the old company. They don't rely on your word as apparently some people tell fibs:eek:

  12. ive had 'mirrored' no claims on a couple of policies. have 13 years on my main car policy which has been applied to 2 other policies (defender and meganne r26 track car) despite me still running my day to day car. give them a try.

  13. normally they give you 28 days to prove your no claims, SO why not keep both insurance runnign and then when you sell caddy and cancel insurance send the letter then. What Golf are you getting?

  14. I work in insurance - unfortunately......sorry:oops:. You can't officially use NCB twice. However, if the caddy is gonna be sold within a couple of weeks of getting the Golf, then you may be able to get away with it as most insurers give you 28 days to provide proof of bonus. Make sure this is the case as some insurers want proof provided within 14 days.

The other thing to remember when geting quotes is that this current years insurance will not class towards your NCB if you cancel the Caddy policy early. So even if you have 3 years and 11 months when you cancel, they will only give proof of 3 full years, so don't get quotes based on 4 years.

yeah i know about the incomplete year (what annoys me is they say i have 8 years full ncb but ive driven 27 years and never claimed)

  17. Yup - most insurers only give discounts based on max NCB between 4 & 8 years, so their computers say no if you ask for proof of NCB over that, as it's of no relevance to the computer making the calculation:rolleyes::mad:

You'd be amazed at the number of people who try to use incomplete years NCB
