  2. it wont give you any more travell than is already there. It just improves the action. I got peed off looking for parts to give me full throttle on my dells. Mines RHD. If yours is like mine then at the lever end (where the cable attaches) theres enough spare thread on the end to remove the nut and fit a longer lever arm as well as the original. About 40mm longer than the original. It just needs three holes in it. On to bolt on with the original arm. A second so you can put a snall bolt through the hole where the cable normally attaches and a third to connect the cable. It got me enough travel to get full throttle, and bend my pedal stop back how it should be!

  3. Do I need to take the belly pan off to access that lever?

  4. front pedal cover yes - belly pan is the big one in the middle of the bus!

  5. Thought if was just called a front belly pan. Oops yeah front pedal cover. I'll take that off next week. There's a lot of play in my pedal linkage so I'll buy a new one anyway. Did you take pics?

  6. Front belly pan is probably right - makes sense just wanted to differentiate from the big one. I just had a free hour to do it and it was a semi lash up so no pics im afraid but I disconnected the nipple at the carb. front belly pan of cable disconnected. Disconnected pedal from linkage and undid the screws holding the conduit. Lever off the end by removing the nut. Rod out of tube so that could be cleaned and greased. Back together with the extra extended lever all back together. Job done! extra 10mph in third and havent nailed it on a run yet!

  7. I do a replacement of this kit/mount pictured with a balljointed pushrod from the pedal , these are lhd late units for carb engines only , there is another kit coming soon for fuel injected models aswell . For rhd models with the crappy `S` shaped rod i do the adjustable length pushrod rose joint , but thats it on that front although i have plans for longer/taller cable holders for the extra cable pull people . Im a splitty owner all this other stuff has only been done because people have requested it.[IMG] TThese are now in a Gold passivate coating now .

  8. Got bored waiting and cobbled one up for the cable arm on my RHD 73 twin carb jobbie. Looking forwards to you doing the pucker item. I know what you mean about the pedal push rod - its a bit pants!

  9. @Dicky and @75swampy, fitting the improved linkage does give you more cable travel at the carbs as it takes out all of the wasted action due to slack. I started off with an extension lever on my old linkage just to get full throttle. With the kit from @butty the standard length arm gave me all of the travel I needed at the carbs without even using the full pedal travel.

  10. Ordered!!
Cheers I'll fit that first and make any other modifications if need be. With the play in my pedal at the moment I reckon fitting this linkage should solve my cable travel issues. Looks like a neat piece of kit. Simple but effective.

  11. your linkages are different as yours is a cross-over!

  12. I've ordered the rose joint linkage as it looks pretty sturdy compared to the s shaped piece I have just now. Heaps of play.

  13. What does it mean by Crossover?

  14. Swampy your on the crossover year that they went from the `S` shaped pedal rod to the 2 pieces of flat steel either side of the pedal , so eliminates the `S` rod . To be honest over the last year or so you would be amazed at how many alterations Vw made to RHD models , 2 types of throttle kits for earlybays , 2 types of kits for LHD late bays the list is big .....

  18. Yeah I just didn't know what cross over meant heard it a few times when people describe their vans.

  19. It means they're better. Simples.

  20. Youve obviously never broken the outlet off your petrol tank then Owen , earlies had an unscrewable unit easy to change but later models you have to change the whole tank , that to me is going backwards . But other things your right lol .
