  3. Hmmm, I drove up for the day, and OK i didn't hang about but fuel was £150 there and back... yes really. £15 to get in, do you know how much it costs to hire a place the size and quality of this place and run it, 160 staff paid and un-paid one hell of a lot or organisation? The show and shine are i thought was bit quiet, BUT I had a great day mostly chatting to like minded , or just interesting characters, said hi to a few traders that have looked after us for the last couple of years, and came home smiling , even after 3 minor break downs on the way there and back. Sure it might not be everyones scene, so just don't go, enjoy what yours scene is. Thousands of van owners voted with there wallet and steering wheels to be there, a very large percentage for the umpteenth time, for me it was my first, and I will go back and experience the whole weekend next year......... I will also enjoy some little shows, trips to the beach and weekends away too ! So there.....

The bargains are rare at VW shows, we gave Busfest a miss this year for the first time in about 12 years, and went down to the New Forest and Beaulieu auto jumble. Not much in the way of VW parts except a late bay sliding door that had been sand blasted and so had made the panels distorted a bit, but no rot and only a little surface rust as it had not been primed. Dave got the guy down to £50(although we did not need it) and then realised we could not get it home, the seller was almost begging us to take it as he did not want to take it home with him. We did get a good deal on a fiamma bike rack though :D

Got to be honest - Shows have less and less appeal to me these days. most were just small autojumbles in a field and then they grew and got popular, now they are ridiculously over stocked/priced/crowded and sales are aimed at the novice. Nahh, give me the poobus, Rhubarb, Rick, Ewan, Will, Moley and a few other mates and a open field with beer in the back and i'm at peace with the world

  6. I didn't think the auto jumble prices were that bad this year, and I got a load of panels from schofields at a great price!
I thought there was a lot of vw stuff there, most of the big companies were there and all had stock with them and if you actually ask they do cut you a deal!
But as far as ticket prices go your paying a lot for just having a lot of traders there as there wasn't any good entertainment on! Seen a lot better bands at smaller shows!! And the tickets were less than half the price!!
We had a good weekend but we were with the right people so that makes all the difference!

e bay has killed off many a bargain at shows unfortunately, I've only been to one vw show this year (skegvegas) it was nice to be at a more friendly small show but it will grow and spoil itself i'm sure, i'd rather just camp with a few friends.

  15. We had a really good 3 days at Busfest. Even more so than previous years. The entertainment was unexpectedly good fun, the people were really friendly and we enjoyed the usual jaunt round the sales stands and vehicle sales areas and rummaging through boxes of jumble. It's also great look around to see what others have done to their vans.
By Friday evening the campsite was nearly full so there's clearly still a market for this type of event and I think they did a really good job.

  16. We stayed a few miles out at a little quiet site with the kids on Friday night then friends joined us Saturday morn and we all went to the show.
It was the first time they had been ... They enjoyed it so much that after there night in a tent they came back to the show with us on the Sunday... They dont even have a bus!
It's what you make it... If the weathers good and your with friends it's fab... The kids ( and me) Loved the synchro display ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378756378.406670.jpg
