  1. So looks like the engine packed up again. Or another distributor failure.

Waiting for Mr RAC to rock up. 3 hours they say.... Sigh.

    :-[

  2. Oh dear :(

  3. oh no ! Hope it is not three hours for you!

Where on the A303?? I've had moments on that road too. And now I hate that road.

  7. Thanks folks....

    Just past podimore.

Mr RAC been. Good work rac, but agrees needs low loader. Number 1 cylinder miss firing. Looks like engine out time.

Now have to wait for the low loader.... To tow me 130 miles
    :-(

  8. Forget about the T5 keep what you've got,
We done 2000 ml round trip in ours last yr saw loads of modern cars broken down not one T2 ,

I am about 1/2 to 3/4 hour away if you want me to pop down and try a new spark-plug, lead or cap

  10. That's very kind of you mate though not sure if that will help. Only just had new leads and plugs, the dizzy is a 123 one. I not overly technical but the rac man's face kind of said it all.

The saddest thing about this is that next weekend we were off camping for a mates 40th birthday, and now we won't be able to go in the van. Looks like I best buy a tent.

    no worry's
Dont discount the plugs and leads i have had new ones fail i would do a compression test before worrying about the engine to much

  12. Andy at least you save on petrol if you get low loaded home! I was on a low loader recently in my normal daily car, so it can happen no matter what you are driving. Fingers crossed you get it sorted in time for the 40th camping.

  13. The A303 is a busse's natural home...and graveyard. Lost count of the number of broken-down vans I've seen :(

  14. I'd go for a bad lead.

  15. Lol. A saving on petrol for sure...

My normal mechanic fully booked this week so no chance he can fix it before then. Going to drain the oil when get back to check if any fragments in it. Also have a jolly good look at the pushrods and rocker gear when get home.

Wouldn't know where to start with compression test. Guess will have to research that when get home.

  16. you could always join another break down company and get towed to the camping by the new company & then towed back by your existing one!

  17. I would love it if it were just that, but also be a little disappointed that the rac didn't think of that. I can't help but think this could be the t5 tipping point... I love my van, the people that own them and how, when it works properly, it makes me feel. Yet I feel so disillusioned by this latest breakdown that I can't help but feel my van owes me more!

Its weird to explain, but I have always tried to do the right thing, if it needed something I bought it regardless of if I could really afford it. I keep to service schedules etc and have it looked at by professionals. So to have this third tow home due to engine failure I feel disappointed.

I hope I feel less negative once I get home.

    :)
