Its a job Ive avoided doing on the westy & managed ok for two years  our '73 was a right bitch to do, one of the cables snapped halfway down the steel tube :(

the fiddly part is connecting by the heater levers, its easier to get to with the speedo pod removed (we did ours when we had all of the dash in bits). The easy part is connecting to the heat exchangers!

We replaced the inner (steel) and outer (plastic coated wire) cableing in one, so we had to remove them from the tubing running front to back & it had rusted solid about a foot from the back end - from memory we had to cut the steel tube & re weld with a sleeve

^ yep that looks right to me - the other one will have a hook (90 deg bend) on one end that the eye ^ in the cable fits through

it feeds through quite easily if you lube the pipe up a bit as you feed it through

i have only pulled out a wire inner cable i now need to remove the outer ,
so does it all run through a larger outer cable as im only under the back at the mo on a wet floor :rain:

there is a steel tube running front to back - welded to the chassis at various points (you may be able to see where the old cable exits) - inside that steel tube is the cable as per the pic you posted - the cable feeds through front to back so to remove you will need to go up front (thats the way we worked) and pull the spriral outer from the steel tube - go gently but firmly so it doesnt snap in the middle

from in the cab or underneath :thinking
this is the one from just kampers

either - it doesnt matter tbh your probably better feeding it out of the cab so its lay underneath and doing it that was due to the length of the cable
