All fan shrouds have the plastic timing bung, but yes to everything pointing towards it being an ex-car engine.

    Yours must be broken :)
Now I've said that I expect mine doesn't have a bung either!

  4. I gather mine is not a usual bus engine, what with the dipstick tube on top and crankcase breather outlets. I was told previously that it may be from a car engine as the bell housing has a hole blanked off where some kind of fuel injection sensor would have been. The dipstick tube on the top has been sealed and I believe the EGR hole also. The engine was changed by the PO 1n 1998 and 100,000 miles ago. The receipt just says 'engine' and gives a part number.

So, thanks to all the help on here, it seems I have all the usual type 4 bits I should have for the breather pipes, but I do have the additional crankcase breather outlets near each inlet manifold. From what I have seen online most type 4 carburated car engines yet these to a catch can or breather box. So it seems my set up is OK, with each of these being connected by hoses to the air filter box by 'T' pieces into the pipe that goes from the breather box to the air box.

Or you could block the two rocker breathers which would tidy the engine bay a bit -the rest of us manage just fine without venting the rockers.

  6. A good point, thanks Zedders. I will keep my eyes peeled for some correctly sized bungs.
