I'm jinxed, last time I hired a vehicle it was a beavertail to bring my bus home when I bought it. That broke down on the way home( see avatar pic). Today I hired a van to go to Abersoch to empty out parents caravan, I'm now sitting at Lymm services waiting for another breakdown truck cos this vans split an injector. I'm not hiring any more vehicles. Just a shame the camper wasn't really big enough for all the crap I needed to bring back.
Been there, Ont he way to berlin in a hire van, broke down outside Hanover, 16 hours later back on the road. Most of the time was spent wrangling with the insurers to pay for the repair. Then the bloody thing broke down on the way back. We never used that hire firm again.When we were hiring a van from a reputable firm a bloke came in and asked the manager if he wanted the milometers turned back " i always do it for S and B motors" he said.Guess where we had hired the crappy one from
Chatting to the breakdown driver that took us back, turns out he was the same one that rescued Lord Congi from the Tatton Park BBQ!!
Just the way it goes dude!! I've done a fair few miles in rental vans (moved a few times) and never had a problem, although I've had the odd one with blown bulbs, and the last one the alt bearing started to go!!
