I know camper brakes are supposed to be as useful as warm fudge, but does anyone know of anywhere I could get some uprated brakes so it takes me less than half a mile to go from 30 to zero? Ta!
Splittie brakes were awful as were Earlybays but IMHO anything with discs is fine, almost up to modern standards. I'd agree with sANDYbAY yours may need tlc.
New drums , new shoes , new cylinders , new pads and a good bleed should see you right , suprisingly reasonable price for peace of mind and relatively easy job -imo
umteenth agreement... Even just a fluid change can make the world of difference... it is supposed to be changed every 2 to 3 years...
thought mine were fine - changed fluid, bled em up and sorted a servo leak and wow - such an improvement! They must have been going down hill so gradually i never noticed.
Keep them well adjusted (rear drums) and they are good, did ours Thursday evening and nearly flew through the windscreen on test drive. Am considering disks at the back for the future.
Servo? Mine is a full resto 79 panel van that was turned into a campervan by PO! Should there be a servo and if so whereabouts please!
Thanks everyone, I think I'll get them looked at when I get a bit of bodywork done and seatbelts fitted. What a marvellous set of people you are!
