Brake light switch

  1. So I was getting the pickup ready for the MOT and I was reversing up to house and noticed that when I put my foot on the brake there wasnt any lights showing.

originally I thought that I might have nocked a wire off or something. so I investigated a bit.
All of the wires are there and connected up. I tested for 12 at the bulb housing. Nothing...
then I took the boot off the switch and found that when I bridged the gap to complte the circut, the lights lit up.

This to me says that the switch is knackered....? Ive ordered two as the other switch doesnt seem to be doing anything either.

Is this a common problem?? the Bus hasnt really been used in about 6 months so I'm not sure what would cause them to just fail on their own...

I'll swap the switches and see what happens but it would be good to hear from anyone with similar experiences.

    Cheers
    Dave

  2. Are they original ones? Or just quite old? As they do wear out, and often as not, one will fail, and you won't know until the 2nd one fails!! :)

  3. ah okay, Cheers Paul. one is definatley original the other is old and dirty but looks to be more recent than the crusty one
    Cheers!
