Boot hardboard

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by LewBLew, May 1, 2014.

  1. Hi all. I want to replace the original boot floor lining in my '73, which is what looks like thick cardboard/hardboard with a black top. It's all fraying and cracked. Any idea where I can get something similar (black) which doesn't need painting and won't be heavy like wood? Perhaps a thin black plastic which I could cut to size, like they do with door cards?

    Thanks :)

you can buy black plastic door cars for bays on ebay, they may do a boot card too if you ask

  3. Can't find anything, and can't find any black-faced MDF or hardboard, only white or natural.

Another option might be to paint it? But then I dunno if I want to lose the patina. And where do you stop? Haha

  6. I agree with steve:thumbsup:

It looks like it has history and tells a story
If you put a brand new one in there it will make other parts of your interior look old and worn then youll end up chasing your tail

  7. I used a nice off cut of carpet in a colour to match seating and cut to shape.

  10. Very good idea! Could lay it over the top and keep the old one perhaps.
