Looks like the front apron piece is missing.

  4. No sorry I have the tin, I just want to block the hole as I'm not using the standard air box

Never seen anything sold to cover it. Jam jar lids sound as good a plan as any!

  7. I see!!. Guess jj lid either side, bolted through and painted black would look neat!!!

  8. i have cut a piece of thin steel,[with snips]
its extended from the hole up to the tinware screw
painted it on both sides and it is held down by the tinware screw nearby

  9. seriously fecking jam jar lids ? why not cut a circular piece of steel and weld it in the hole ?

Good plan if you can weld and be bothered to strip the tins off the engine.
Personally I'd just clamp something on as it won't be seen anyway.

  11.

  12. hahaha what about two steel circles, one with a captive nut on the bottom, then bolt together.

at least then you dont have jam jar lids in your engine bay and it will sit more flush.

  13. vw make just the part

circular disc from front valance of beetle. If its too big file it to the right diameter. They already have a threaded stud welded to the back and a second disc to hold it in.

    Happy days then.

  16. ridiculous ,next you will be cutting up a tin of beer and wrapping it round your coil....

  17. Erm. How about just a cut of the foam that seals the tinware? That's what I use.

  18. Because (a) I had no welder, (b) I can't weld, (c) I had no steel to cut a circular piece out of and (d) there were loads of jam jar lids in the recycle bin. It did the job, better than allowing hot air into the cool zone.

  19. Alternatively you could just leave the holes, I have.
