Best quality brake pads, which to use?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Dicky, Feb 14, 2016.

  1. working my way round the brakes dealing with any issues. Better than when i started but feels like fronts are fading a little. Pads were gsf jobbies and possibly not the best. What have you got fitted. Whats the best in your experience?

    Thanks.

  2. Anyone use black diamond pads, and discs too actually?

  3. I think they are considered budget performance discs.

    If that's the right phrase?

  4. I wonder if they work any better than my budget gsf oe style ones?

  5. Anyone used the green thingies?

  6. Probably.

I would just use good, cheap discs though.
It's just a circle of metal. Not vented, drilled or grooved or anything.

    Spend the extra on pads.

Greenstuff, Redstuff, Yellowstuff, and the like used to be another good budget performance pad.

  8. Are they bite-y?

  9. Is that as opposed to fadey?

  10. Not worried about budget! What are the best?

  12. No not bite' y but do pull up well even with no servo ,
Braded hoses help as well .

  13. Not hard-y. I want bite-y.

  14. Im talking about quality pads that work well on a standard bay that is uesd as a camper. Not a new completely differen system not intended for a bay. Possibly i want clear. The word "budget" i took to mean ok for the price. Ffs ots not a difficult question.

  15. We don't have a servo. The ferodos do a good job but I also fitted stainlees Goodridge hoses. They work well when adjusted properly.

  16. I would be very pleased to buy a set of 'old fashioned' pads that came with the steel shims that stop the awful squealing that I have to live with these days!

The pads that came with my recent replacement calipers are very good, but no idea what they are.

  18. The pads that came with my Brazilian ATE calipers were fine. They're still on.
