Best place to fit a Fuel pressure regulator

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by shahaviation, Apr 25, 2020.

  1. Hi guys. I have a 1973 LH drive 1800AP engined bay and have been advised to fit a fuel pressure regulator to feed my 34ICT carbs. So I have purchased a Malpassi 6mm unit with a glass see thru filter bowl.
There is filter unit in front of the firewall in between the carbs. Can i drill and fit the bracket where the filter is. Don't know gap between the firewall and fuel tank. IMG_20190911_1801425.jpg

There's a fair bit of room behind the firewall...just stick something on the drill bit ( cork?) So you don't go too far and for piece of mind.

  3. That's great and many thanks. That gives me some peace of mind. Is this a good place to fit the regulator as I know that there are many places that these regulators are fitted.

I fitted mine to the top of the tin so it and it's plumbing come out with the engine. It makes that job a little easier.

I bought the bigger one as you can screw a gauge into it but it is a whopper.

  5. I put mine on the rear of the bracket that holds the diagnostic socket.

  7. Thanks guys. That gives me a few options. I'll have to order some more fuel line as bad a look and not enough fuel line in my spares box.

  10. Bloody rebel.

Instructions say mount it somewhere with minimal vibrations.

I've had mine under the spare wheel, then on the fan housing, then back under the spare wheel

Ha-ha, I've had mine on the fan housing, on the fan housing, on the fan housing and now on the engine tin. Even at it's roughest revs nothing exciting happens in the big bowl.

  14. Hi guys. Just finished fitting the fuel regulator. Had to rep lace the fuel line from the pump as original was too short . Hopefully will run better now . Carb tuning next just to make sure it's correctly set up. IMG_20200507_172154.jpg IMG_20200507_172154.jpg IMG_20200507_172137.jpg
