Which were the best branded stock callipers, cylinders etc? I read somewhere that ATE were the preferred better option, but that some vans were fitted with other types which were not so good? Or is it the other way around?
AFAIK they were either ATE or Girling calipers from the factory... I think the modern alternative is from lucas...
Lucas did indeed buy Girling, and I believe VW used both. I fitted a set of Brazilian ATE calipers, and they were fine.
