Bench testing engine

  1. I've been building my engine for probably 5 years (don't ask), and have go to the stage where I am bench testing it... Or trying!

Unfortunately I forgot to add the rotory arm to the distributor.

But the battery was going flat as I kept turning it over.

At the moment I don't have a cable from the alternator to the battery to charge it while running... Is there a simple way to connect the two so it charges???

  2. Maybe try a jump lead

  3. I have just jumped the battery off the car to get it going.

But is there any way to charge the battery when it's set up on the test rig?

  4. You need a charge cable from the big terminal on the alt to the positive on the battery, and on the blade terminal, you need a bulb (3w) and a length of cable that goes to the positive terminal on the battery - this then replicates the charge circuit on the car/van

  5. Ok so the B+ links to the positive on battery.

The D+ goes from the ignition on my home made control box with a lamp on

    Thank for the help
