Bank Rant

  1. Sorry for this but I work for the Co-op and this has so peed me off.
I set up a standing order for £300 to come from my account when I got paid - the 8th ,I have now been fined £15 because the money has to be in your account for 24 hours before the standing order can be paid ,I was not advised this when I set this up and the good old Co-op bank says I must always read the terms and conditions despite what the cashier said when I set this up.
Well I've just maxed my overdraft out on both accounts and have just opened an account with Santander for my wages to go into starting next month.
The Co-op can join the long list of unsecured loans and debtors I have
    Rant over.

There kinda of right though arnt they :)

  2. nooooo! don't go to santander, they have the worst customer service record EVER.

i had my account hacked march 2011, £125 on calls and 15 months later i got MY money back. i couldn't access my account even though money was still going out (they let someone else use it but not me!) was without a bank card for 10 weeks as they kept telling me they'd sent one and then another customer service bod would tell me it hadn't been ordered   :arrggh:

the stress, frustration was almost intolerable. i tried to move to another bank but they told me that i couldn't as there was an open dispute (they still had my money), a branch manager told me that i'd be "open to more phishing/hacking if i went somewhere else" yes, i reported her.

they have competitive rates and offers but please look at their customer service record; it really isn't worth it. i had to borrow money from friends and family and when i stopped my salary going in they charged me every month....

first direct have great cust service record and others too.... http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts

  8. what is it coming to. As if banks are nt making enough.
my HSBC wanted to scrap my £200 free overdraft. so i told em if they scrap i will be scrapping them and moving the money else where, where they are glad to give ame a free 200 quid overdraft. i have a 3k on my halifax...
    but never needed it.
Barclays closed my account cos i was not using it.. twits
Just wait till we win the lottery ,,, my tenner will go else where then,

Probably best to speak to them first. Remember they can, and regularly do, employ debt collection agencies...
Speak to your bank to. If you can prove why you bounced payments they'll probably refund you.

  12. i was talking to the MD of a major theatre lighting hire firm earlier this year and asked if he'd seen a downturn in hires. "yes" he said "from smaller theatre companies but we've seen an increase i spending for corporate events", he then told me that they'd supplied the lighting for a party for bankers - the lighting budget alone was £50,000!

still, they work hard, don't they? >:D

mumble, grumble, chunter..... *insert rant about bankers*

  13. I don`t have a bank account .... :mwave:

I did used to get hammered by the banks ,I remember been overdrawn because the bank charged me for something [bank charges] and for three days they charged me another £65 [unatherised overdraft] ,ow I was mad.... >:D

all I worry about now is where I can hide my cash..... ;D

  17. I've been using Nationwide for about 20 years. Never had a problem and they don't have foreign call centres.
Weren't involved in the recent corrupt shenanigans either...
