    I believe it is.
Someone who knows considerably more than me will no doubt be along shortly....

  3. Yes and if it been like that for some time you may find the ball joint is also knackerd

  4. Bugger! There is no movement in the joint

    What about these 2?

Mine they checked on a ramp with the wheels hanging.
They all look like fails to me.
By all accounts replacements last about 7 minutes before splitting again.

I think it was an advisory until last year but a definate fail now :(

  9. big fat FAIL for split boots now i am afraid, they will be able to tell even with the suspension loaded.

  10. Where is best for replacements? I don't have access to a press,
are the cool air complete arms any good?

  11. Personally I would do the complete exchange arms thing. Anywhere should be on tbh.

  12. have you got a grinder??? I bought the G-clamp tool off ebay it's meant for trucks and 4x4's Only problem with it is that it doesnt have the correct adapter for pressing them out. I managed to press out 2 that turned out to be fairly recent replacements. the bottom 2 I ground the circular seam iff the top of the joint (opposite side from the wiggly taper bit. Once the seam is off you can knock the taper but out through the bottom of the joint. I then got a hacksaw and cut out a section from the but that was left in the arm. this frees up the rest of the remaining metal and it nocks out quite easily.

Grind off the bit that's marked 7 and you can then hit part 5 with a big hammer and it'll all fall out of the bottom. then hacksaw through part 1 just so that youre able to cut a section of it out. dont go into the arm... then with a notch taken out you can hammer the rest of part 1 out

  13. If there is no play in the joints, then just fit new boots with a little bit of fresh grease in them!!

    kilmo likes this.
  14. I didn't realise you could just get boots, is it just a question of popping the joint loading with grease and fitting the boot and re fitting?

  15. remove stub axle, change boots, refit stubs...

The boots have 2 wire clips on each... probably want like a couple of teaspoons of grease in each boot :)
