Awning

  1. Sun canopy is the way to go. Got robbed at Glastonbury wouldn’t recommend an awning if you go to many festivals. You no how easy it is to open a bus? Obviously if you’re got kids and need the extra space. Then I’d just go for a half decent tent. [IMG]

  2. Very secure .
It has a steel pole running inside a sleeve at the van end , this pole sits snugly into the gutter and is secured onto the van by 3 metal clamps which tighten it into the gutter.
Another option would be use `figure of 8`strips but wouldn't be as sturdy...
The canopy can easily be fitted in 2 minutes - on my own

  3. Thanks for the offer.. I bought a shelter pod.. The reason I asked is that I needed one as I've only got a rock n roll bed and nothing else in the bus.. I am taking the Mrs away and she'll not go again unless I make it comfortable. You heard of tubs v dubs... I live near there.. I'm fact my bus is with them next week for a month..the body should be done then..... 2020 paint 2121 interior.... Yeah

I have an Outwell Country Road awning that saw duty when all the family came camping and when it was forecast to chuck it down last year.

Mostly now I keep a 4 metre long sun awning and a tall windbreak in the bus.
This keeps rain out but has to come down if windy.
I have evolved and made special clamps to fit the pole on the bus side to the gutter because the pop top interferes with the usual clamps. And I use figure of eight strip to divert the rain so it doesnt drip in the slider.

  6. Today I unpacked the one that came with my van. Looks brand new, as if the original owner opened it, saw all the heavy steel poles and various bags of pegs, ties and straps, then just packed it all away again.

Which is exactly what I did.....

  7. Like lots here I have an Outwell country road. It’s a b’stard to put up, especially in rain and windy weather. And what else do you get on hols in Cornwall?
Then I was given a top of the range inflatable job which, like @Purple, I opened, looked at all the straps, and zipped up again.
Now I mostly use my exxy birthday present sun awning, which has optional sides you can put on to keep the wind off. Easy to put up though the figure of 8 strip is really tough on the fingers.

My Kyam has been brilliant. It all clicks into place and goes up very quickly. Comes with spares too incase you break it. Quite pricey and does not look cool. But really good. Had the same one now since 2005.....feel a Trigger’s broom post coming!
The only way you will look a tit is if you buy an awning in the shape of a massive tit....now there’s an idea!
