Awning

  1. another vote for a sun canopy - much more sociable

Unless you're camping on site and using your bus for day excursions, then there's no need for an awning for just two of you at a show - there's too much to do and see and you'll hardly spend any time back at base camp unless there's a group of you, in which case, a canopy! :D

  2. I have an awning but have only used it twice once at camperjam there was 4 of us and 2 dogs so was good to have a little more space. The second time was at dubtoberfest when the weather decided to unleash Armageddon out of the 4 poles 3 snapped I was out at 3am trying to take it down surrounded by others trying to do the same with there’s. The next day the bins were full with broken tents and awnings the event staff even went round the next day with a big trailer collecting everyone’s broken camping equipment. That reminds me I need a new wind breaker for this year the polls of my last one are still in the ground at Cheltenham.

We have 2 but don’t use them we just use a sun canopy, the problem with a awning it’s something to put up/pack away and you end up taking extra stuff to put in it.

What we have started to take when doing longer trips is a one of those small 2 men pop up tents that we can chuck stuff in if going off for the day.

I do like the Oztents through but not cheep

Hurrah for Banbury!!! I went to Banbury school. If I can find my old one out you can have it, though the elastic in the Bendy poles has gone a bit do in places it’s got silver tape fixing them together.

Where in Banbury are you? I’m down at my dads in bloxham next weekend and could talk you through the pros and cons of awnings :)
