Auto sparky in Scotland

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Edslass, Feb 12, 2014.

  1. Hi there,
Trying to find myself a good auto electrician who is 1st reliable, in Scotland & 2nd knows his VWs.
Got a few numbers from people around my area who once phoned never returned any calls. It's seems they are scared to admit they don't know their way around an auld VW. Is it just me or are all tradesmen ignorant as I have had the same problems with joiners & plumbers.
Anyhoo climbing off the soapbox. If anyone out there knows or knows someone who knows their way around a 76 Bay please let me know. I need wires removed from an old fuel inj system & a full look over & updated wiring for stereo, speakers etc.

  2. Well you're 90 miles from me...

Depending on what you want done
caravan and motor-home places will know someone for the leisure bits

Most electricians will not touch them as its out of there comfort zone

  4. Sorry been busy with the van so not been on forum.
Not too far really been to Kelso a few times with bike rallies so mite be a go er. Van is in bits at the mo but hopefully be all back up & running in a few weeks. If the job is not too big is it possible to bring van back same day or will you need it for a few days. Also noticed you got someone heat exchanger on here. The ones on mine are original but look grubbed & was going to buy repo from Just Kampers. Are they Ok? sorry for the questions but you sound a knowledgeable guy.

  5. Repro type 4 heat exchangers are ok... not the best, but they aren't too far off :)

I normally like to have the van for a few days... gives me a chance if I run into something that I need to order bits for!! :)
