As long as it doesn't have an oil pump in it, it'll be fine!! Gearboxes are generally (approx) half their free volume filled with oil, and the oil viscosity is high for cling and fling oiling
Really interested in this, ive just got my first 1974 2l bay and i'm falling in love with it so much so that i would love to drive it as a every day car! Only prob is the 20 mpg would cost a fortune for the amount of miles i do so this would be the answer to all my probs, my other car is a 1.9 tdi passat so i know the engines and they are fantastic! Is there any more info on this swap over? Did he have to extend shafts? Where did he mount the rad? Any over heating probs? The more info the better i seriously want to do this ;-)
