anyone want the number of a rubbish sprayer?

  1. no? thought not.

went to pick up the bus today. i was very nervous but when i got there was pleasantly surprised that all the bodges had been done, and pretty well too!
so, i paid the man via direct transfer from my bank and got set to bring my missing bay home... the sliding door didn't shut properly so had to readjust that... then i noticed... a few patches where the paint has been cut/sanded back so much that it's gone from green to yellow :( only really noticeable out in the daylight, hence why i missed it before. the dash paint is RUBBISH, but only really noticeable from the drivers seat (so, i'll see it everyday then!). didn't notice dash before as the seats weren't in it.
a few runs and a couple of points where filler has not met metal too.

i did all i could not to cry.

to his credit(?) he did say he'd put it right if i left the van but i've tickets for a festival this weekend for my birthday and people are relying on an awning. so, i've brought trevor home, put a bed in him temporarily and going to try and love him for the beautiful thing he is, and not seethe at the paint job.

the sprayer has my money now. he says he'll sort it next week, i hope he is true to his word. if not, i'll chalk it up to experience and ensure that everyone knows.

forget about it over the weekend...enjoy driving the bus and relax, you will feel more positive after a good weekend & will know what step you want to take next

  3. As mork said, enjoy your bus for the weekend.
And then bring mighty thunder down on his punk ass, and get your money back and go somewhere better :)

  4. my thoughts exactly! i would've worried all weekend about him having my bus AND money, and the awning will look rubbish on the beetle! :D

i love the colour (where it's not thinned out) and want to have a nice experience with the bus rather than the recent rubbish ones. but ive only got tomorrow evening to put a *temporary* interior in. and i'll try not to look at the dash or the polka dot drivers door :)

  6. really annoys me when people do a Marmite paint job :(

i bet you paid good money for it too??

  7. Forget living with it if its not right & he won't sort it county court the cowboy!

  8. Pics PLEASE

  9. Please name and shame this person, as some of us are about to committ our buses to the same process. ::)

  10. he knows i was seeking legal advice earlier in the week, but said he'd get it done. but the dash and thin, thin paint on the door and engine bay look like someone's tried to paint small areas with a colour match chosen in a dark room with sunglasses on.

i've learned that i should have looked at in in daylight BEFORE paying. tried to call bank to cancel it but too late.

told him, "you have my money now, and so i'll have to trust that you'll come good. for now"

i've had such rotten luck with the bus that i don't want to look at it and hate it. so need a nice weekend away to remember why it's worth all the heartache :)

at is rate i'll be waxoyling and fitting it out in the snow!

  19. As others have said, have a great weekend and take it back to the guy. Have a list of what is wrong and what you expect to be remedied. In the meantime have a look at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_195913 and search for the small claims court.

Most of all don't blame your bus!

    Fronk.
