  1. Important update for anyone cruising from Hook Road.
Please read carefully and then print out for future reference.

At Hook Rd, I will be giving out numbered stickers (1 - 9) for the back of your buses.
It is important that we all stick together,
Other friends will be joining in with this & it's strictly first come, first served.

On the M25, please ensure that you are immediately behind the vehicle with the previous number to yourself.

On the signal - Mrs Fishtrousers will emerge from the passenger side window, stripped to the waist and wielding an air-horn,
You are unlikely to miss it (or ever forget it).
Numbers 1, 2 & 3 need to move into lane two and numbers 7, 8 & 9 need to move to lane three.
There will be a pause whilst we all close up to form a 3 X 3 square across all three carriageways.
    6, 3 & 9 will bring up the rear.
Please ensure that you are all lined up straight.
There will be a second signal from Mrs Fishtrousers at which point 4 & 6 will move to their right to straddle lanes 1 & 2
    And 7 & 9 move to their left to straddle lanes 2 & 3.
The straddlers will finally tighten their formation

I have organised photographers on several bridges to photograph our Diamond Nine.

Pictures will be available later through this site.

    Be careful out there.

  3. Isn't that what the Police call a "rolling road block" as you bring the Motorway to a complete standstill;)

Can anyone give a Brighton first timer a few tips?
What time should we be arriving at hook rd (roughly) on the Friday night?
Any tips on how to position ourselves in the convoy to get a good spot in Brighton?
Again, roughly what time do most people leave for the racecourse at on Saturday?
Anything worth seeing in Brighton if we've had our fill of vw's for a while?
Anything else you can recommend that we take? We're heading over from Ireland on our own so have no idea what to expect apart from a few you tube vids and the volksworld reports.
Van is almost packed. I'm changing the oil, doing tappets etc tomorrow. Due to both of us relocating and changing jobs this is our summer holiday. Fingers crossed we get the good weather now!

  18. can you turn up on the day on Saturday, and park on Medina drive?

  19. Hook Rd opens at about 14:00
There is nothing to do - at all.
It really doesn't matter what time you get there.
Park in the second field, because when the sun goes down, the first is immediately plunged into deep, cold shadow.
    Get up early - like 06:30 - 07:00
Pack up ready to move immediately
As soon as you see buses start moving, fire up and follow them
You'll be marshalled into long lines
Park up, switch off and make breakfast - I recommend coffee & croissants - not full English
Drive down to Brighton when signalled so to do.
It doesn't matter what happens in the convoy as there is now reserved space for all
Have a quick look at the vans then off into Brighton
Google it first, print a bit of a map and head for North Laine
Superb pubs, food and cool too
Leave for the racecourse from about 15:30 - 16:00 but follow Baygeekster's lead on this.
The racecourse is also very, very cold when the sun goes behind the grandstand.

  20. Yep, that pretty much says it all  :D
