  1. fitted new HD front roll bar yesterady, all except the clamps (that took JK 6 months to deliver!)
back on it today,however... will they fit? will the hell... then looked at the originals a much flatter top than the new ones, i even went for JK's "best quality" any other options? Ratwell says you can use T-Bolt jubilee type clips, good idea? bad ides?

there are some half decent CSP one on machine 7's site, but not for type 2's

over to you guys to give me idea and options....

Mole grips. Looks like it won't fit but it will. They are a bit rubbish, I tend to re-use the original main part and just use the new clip if it's not rusty.

  3. I've used them on a bug, and they are a damn sight nicer to fit that the stock T2/T1 ones..

Did you use any lubricant to fit them? You want a silicone based grease for poly bushes!!

  4. yes, lubed up before fitting, had to give up today due to snow!
unable to use the one originals.... had to be removed with a grinder
will have another go tomorrow... but in pricipal would a couple of stainless steel T-Bolts be ok

It'll fit. Squeeze the middle with a g clamp a bit, bash it down and squash the bottom with molegrips, all at once/gradually get it tighter until you can start the clip.
I often slice down the centre of the clips to get them off, but not the main bracket.

  6. The "new" ones I think are shaped to fit Brazilian Bays, which have different shaped arms. Basically, they're not the right shape for original Bays - more arched, as I recall. You might want to do a bit of panel-beating to make them curvier at the top or, as Zed says, use the originals if they're in decent shape.

To fit them, clamp them tightly with a couple of mole grips while you squeeze the (lubricated) wedge clip on.

  7. They were sure not designed to go on a late bay!

  8. Me and my dad fit a standard anti roll bar on the front, at first the clamp was miles away and i thought it would never fit, we didnt use any lube or anything, but we had 2 mole grips on each, tighten one and put it on, take the other off, tighten and put back on, and so on till it fits.

All i can remember really was thinking.. If this mole grip slips off its going to ping into my face with so much force ill lose both eyes in one sitting.

    Be careful haha

  11. Long time since I did mine, but I recall it all goes much better if you're up on stands with the wheels in the air.

  12. As the above said. You do need to persevere - 2 pairs of grips, beat em into shape and think I jacked the bar up too. While ago now but I used standard clips on the urethane bushes. It seems every half a mm you can get makes a difference.

  13. Have the urethane bushes... Looks like it will be a get the hammer out, get the clamps out and keep going at it
    Thanks guys

  14. Hammer and clamps got the job done.... Should have been easier!

  15. It would've been, if the parts were actually for your vehicle ...
