Try driving a leaf sprung vehicle then drive the same vehicle with mcphearson strut suspension Its like driving a bay then driving a wedge If you want a bay to move less at speed and in wind then you need to stiffen the spring weight The thing with a bay is when you stiffen the spring weight they will rattle your teeth out over a rough surface There not designed for motorways they were designed for rough tracks in many enviroments around the world There poor on motorways but very good flying down a dirt track or accross a field
I think the steering is fine. It gets down a twisty road without any problems, just quite a bit of roll, but you can pitch it into corners better than I expected. Side winds are the issue. Going to fit uprated front and a rear as well. Can always take them off if they don't work / ruin the ride.
Maybe the anti-roll bar is kippered then?? Even with my van being lowered, with uprated adjustable dampening shocks and HD ARBs, I have still had the scary lane change on the motorway... But that was a very stormy night on the M5 going past Exeter services where the motorway is elevated!! But 99% of the time it is spot on
Hi zed and co. I saw Anti Roll Bar Experience supporting The Dead Kennedys at The Greyhound in Fulham Road in 1979. Back to the plot. Yes, the JK heavy duty front and rear roll bars I've fitted, combined with KYB gas shocks, have made a huge difference. Fitting the front one is pretty straight forward. Fitting the rear one requires a bit of courageous chassis drilling but it's worth the effort. The front one alone, being 1" diameter and having really hard bushes, makes a lot of difference and it makes the original item look and feel really weedy.
I have a centre pan earmarked to fit to mine when I get a moment, but not sure if enough to make a difference without the side ones too. Seems like it's the front that blows about to me rather than the whole bus. I've only ever sat in the back of a bus once in my whole life and it was scary mary watching the driver wrestle against the side winds, it's a lot easier to take when you're in "control" yourself! It was certainly the front wandering around when viewed from the back seat.
