  8. Hi People,

Just putting the feelers out. I'm looking for some aircooled engine experts to come along to the show and do some demos and help out with the tech talks/maintenance side of things. There will be a substantial ticket discount for anybody that is able to help out, let me know what you can do etc :) then I can compile a list and work out how the Dub Tech North part of the show will run.

    Thanks
    Kate

This is going back some but there was an Aircooled only show at Duxford air museum every year. Not sure if it's on now but I did go under the guise of Citroën's with my GS. A good spread of buses and Citroën's with a smattering of Tatta's. Not sure if any things changed.

Personally I like the water cooled stuff too. I'm a Golfer too so it's all good to me.

  10. Hi Birdy,

I like the watercooled stuff too - I just fancied trying something a bit different with this one. I'm co-organiser of Dubs int' Dales too which is for all VWs so it's definitely not that I have anything against the water cooled vehicles, I also run the local VW owners club which is a real mix of both :)

Kate. Please don't think I'm against anything singular like an all aircooled only show. A shows a show. You go because; (whatever your reason)

  12. Hey,

I didn't think that - just wanted to make it clear I'm not doing it for any other reason than I want to try an aircooled show with some tech stuff thrown in for something different :) :) :D :D :D

Sorry if I've missed something but I'm a bit confused here:
Events take a hell of a lot of organising, with most events companies starting as soon as the previous years event has finished. This all seems a bit up in the air and wooly to say the least. If you rush the organising, or wing it, this risks getting post event write-ups like some other shockers I've read about!

  16. A lot of organising has already gone into this and it is ongoing - there is no rushing needed. This isn't something I decided yesterday and went ahead and started organising the same day - I've been planning it since about the middle of last summer, al ot of things are already in place. Unfortunately we had a company coming to do the tech talks but they are unable to do it now - hence the asking for people now, I do have some lined up already, I am looking for more though.

Not sure what made you think it seemed a bit up in the air?

Having said that - we (Classic Volks & Dubtricks) did manage to organise Dubs int' Dales in 8 weeks last year and it went extremely well with great write ups and people constantly asking about 2013.

Didnt mean any offence by it, but there are several reasons I had the impression it was all a bit up in the air:
    * At least up until last week you hadn't decided who the show was open to
    * I didn't know you'd done it before. I'm surprised a veteran of organising shows thinks someone will come and provide one of the highlights of the show for a "substantial discount" on the ticket price. I'm not saying you won't get anyone, just that your customers will probably expect a bit more than someone not being paid (whilst you make a handsome profit presumably) will be willing to put in.

I don't do shows anyway, I just hope I don't have to read loads of "it was Marmitee" reports afterwards!

    Good luck anyway.

  18. It won't only be substantial ticket discounts - eg any company that wants to come and do talks will be given free advertising and more etc. The above comment was really for people who want to come and give a hand - I am speaking separately to companies/garages regarding this - the benefits of helping/giving demos/talks etc will be discussed with individuals.

I had decided last summer to do an aircooled only show and started planning - my initial meeting with York Racecourse was at the end of August last year. If you look at the costs of putting on one of these shows - music, marquee, security etc etc etc etc you would know there isn't a handsome profit from them - I'm not doing it to make money, I'm doing it because I think it will make a great show.

Thanks for your input though - always helpful to hear others opinions :)

  19. Oh - no offence taken by the way - it's good to hear others input. Thanks

    Is show organising your job?
If so, you're doing it to make money; either for yourself of your company. Nothing wrong with that but it's the economics of business!
