I have to be strict on this one though I want to do a show for the north that's a bit different to the rest and as there is loads for watercooled I thought an VW aircooled exclusive would be a nice way to go There will be watercooled parking for day visitors and there are tons of local campsites ;-) Kate
Divide and conquer mixed with elitism is not what the dub scene needs Like others im limeted to the closer shows due to the cost of fuel If i drove a derve t4 i could go further but i love my classic bus A show at york would be normally one id venture to but if its all elitist then ill stay at home and paint some nuts and bolts instead
It's not about elitism or dividing - it's just that there are so many watercooled shows I thought it would be nice to have something for aircooled and I wanted something a bit different. There will be another show to come the year after that will be mixed but for this one I wanted something a bit different. It wasn't something I just decided, I asked many people at shows this year what they'd like from a show to make it a bit different and so many said they'd like to see something like this. Shame you won't be venturing to it but you are of course entitled to your opinion. Sorry if I've offended you with this - that's definitely not my intention Kate
If it was for all dubs but aircooled got free camping then id support that I understand the scene is evolving and changing and we should evolve and change with it If im at a show and all the other dubs are water cooled and im the only aircooled i feel special for keeping an old vehicle alive Id never want to dissallow them though
I think that with alot of shows allowing pretty much any vehicle its a good idea to get back to basics with just air cooled really x Don't think its elitist just offering a different show to what is already out there... I understand why people without an aircooled might me a bit miffed though... but still think it will be nice to look about and see just aircooled
I do see your point and this is why I will be providing parking for watercooled day visitors - I and many others just wanted something a little different. I have to say, I'm definitely not elitist though, I run the local VW owners club too which is everything VW (just VW though so maybe that could be classed as elitist? - or is that specialist?). Anyway, I will be sticking to my plan as it's what I really want for this show, we will be having tech talks too and basic maintenance (as at Techenders/Tekenders - which is it - I can never remember ???). I'm not doing this to annoy/divide or anything like that. The scene is massive now and I think there's room for a specialist aircooled show Kate
How many times last year did I here people moaning at shows " It's full of T4/ T5's,. The Bays are out numbered " So now, when there is an exclusive camp / show for Air-cooled, all we hear are the opposite moans.!
Now, where's Para's post about the Dub Vibe going astray?????? Surely they're all Dubs?......... T4 ownership gives all those old plumbers/AA vans a new lease of life anyway........... Used to be the same with T25's, even the aircooled ones.......
