FOR SALE Advanced Warning - US order...

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by Paul Weeding, Jun 2, 2014.

  1. As a few of you guys have got the viton dipstick boot, it seems daft me doing engine builds and not using them, so I'm ordering in a batch.
While I'm at it, I'll also be ordering in some alternator cooling elbows... These come in 2 guises, one for the 55amp alt, and one for the 75amp alt.

So if you would like either or both, then please add your name below!!

Due to the order size, I'll be liable for VAT and duty, so likely as not the parts will be a bit more than what @Dicky and @Top Banana Racing have charged for the ones they shipped in!! But still cheaper than UK retailers

    Dipstick boot £4.50
    55amp elbow £18
    75amp elbow £20
Plastic cap for the oblong alt adjustment hole £8

    All parts are plus post.

I'm also placing an order with my engine parts supplier, so it anyone is doing a type 4 build, then I can add parts to the order too!!

EDIT - Just as a forewarning, I've been competitive with the pricing, but as long as shipping, duty, and VAT doesn't come to more than I've calculated, then the prices stand... if they hit me for more than that, then prices will have to be adjusted accordingly

  3. Theyve sent me a bill for vat and duty on mine!!!! Havent totted it up yet but the ones i got cost me more that that each! You fitted the one I sent up?

  4. I might have to add a bit more on to them then... but they did offer me a discount for a large bulk purchase!!

been a regular visitor to the US of A ,usually once a year lately twice a year - bought a weber prog carb there in april and bought it back in me luggage no vat or duty

  11. I'll check and let you know... But likely as not, yours will be the 55 :)

  12. @Paul Weeding not having got one of these (at least i don't think I have) what is a "Plastic cap for the oblong alt adjustment hole £8" what does it do?

  13. Thanks Paul - out of interest why do you say that it will be a 55?

it's the plastic cover that "covers" the alternator adjustment hole.
Paul - put me down for a dipstick boot and a alt cap i have no idea on my amps for the elbow though - how to check?

  16. I'll take a look in one of my many books.

Paul please could you put me down for a
    Dipstick boot £4.50
Plastic cap for the oblong alt adjustment hole £8

Perhaps another year for a full rebuild of my type 4 … just out of interest what parts are worth buying from the states for that?

  17. what is the import duty? I'm guessing the vat is standard 20%? Would be interested in cams, lifters, valve springs, maybe a crank if its going to work out loads cheaper
    :)

  18. Can you put me down for one dip stick boot please, thanks.

  19. Duty is a bit of an odd one... I sometimes think they make it up as they go along!!

I've paid £50 duty on a £1000 order before... So normally it's not too bad!!

Engine parts work out pretty similar cost wise... Obviously I add a little for my time!!

Crankshafts come from a completely different supplier if you want something other than a stock crank?

I think it depends on the declared value the supplier puts on the export note
