Adjustable push rod tubes in 1600 tp?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Flying Pig, Dec 1, 2012.

  1. Hi all , a mate has askd me to fit adjustable push rod tubes to his engine and i believe they are the empi ones machine 7 sell for about £70 .00 . I've read various reports on these and just wondered what they are like with reference to sealing nicely and staying sealed ?. Would anyone advise using aditional sealent on the seals to stop leaks or are they usually good to seal if fitted properly ? All advice and experiences welcome , Cheers Mick

  2. If you're going down that road, I'd put on the Jaycee ones, as they are designed better, and are less likely to leak!!

  3. They will leak and you will have to do them again properly
Do it once and do it properly but make sure you get the good quality seals not the cheap repro ones

i got told never to use additional sealant as they have to move slightly, good quality viton (green) seals and good clean mating surfaces and you'll be fine, assembly lubrication of a silicone base is ok to assist in the locating of them will help.
