Is this a standard configuration for the accelerator pedal linkage (1978 model)? I have a plastic cover that sits over the top. Just trying to figure out how to fit new cab carpet which does not seem to allow for this - it is cut to run straight up to the kick panel. Thinking I may have to fit carpet underneath and fit the plastic cover back over the top. Just wondering if this is normal or whether there are alternative ways that the accelerator linkage is made.
mine is a bit different to that. I have a rod that sits in the groove just below (and to the other side of your) of the steering column .....but I've not seen others like mine
Cheers all. It looks as if it is as VW intended. I can get around it with a bit of improvisation and will let the nice folks at Madmatz know that there are a few extra variants they might add.

Yep it’s like mine The carpet mats should be made the same as the thick rubber mat that is the standard from VW – and that butts up to the front of the plastic cover. If it’s been made to go over you will have to stick it or just loose lay it and see how it goes. It sounds like the carpet set you have is for an earlier bay that does not have the plastic cover Hope this helps Marc
Yes, Madmatz don't seem to have a template for this config. I am going to fit the carpet under the pedal linkage and fit the cover over the top - tomorrows fun.
