  1. I'm looking at such a kit(the photo) on VWHeritage site, and as sure as eggs are eggs the part that looks like all the rods attatch too, /pivot from aint on my bus(9 previous owners ) on mine there are the rods ,flopping about , anyone know if perhaps that kit is as said by date ,for my camper and I would assume if yes a po has junked the part I refer too? ta for any opinion

  2. What photo?

And what year is your van?

  3. sorry Paul ,the one displayed on the vwsite ,my bus year ? well ,according to paperwork its Aug 71 but I kid you not ,the trouble I have getting the correct parts for this bus based on that date are immense ,I regularly either keep the parts ive purchased (wrongly) and resolved recently to ,buying the two versions of parts available on the assumption one must be correct ,my bus is such a mish mash of the "if it fits ,then fit it "school of maintenance ,so, that is one of the probs I got ,hence my enquiry re the brake kit I have been in search of the correct one for several years, some dealers have opinioned the one I need is no longer available ?

  4. Got any pictures of your van?

The 71 should indeed have a L shaped piece as part of the linkage... it's mounted to the underside of the cab floor where the linkage passes through!!

  5. yeah ,had a look ,paul the one I reffered too ,is deffo not for my bus ,as you noted I got the >rod from pedal to that l-shaped bracket to a 30cm conn.rod ,thru a right angle ,thru chassis leg to cable pull assembly<still on the hunt for these parts ,ta for advice.

  6. ta 4 input people ,visited bus today for another look, the main rod(300mm approx.) from front linkage is ball and socket ended/coupling , suspect its home grown ,cannot see any pics on any site with anything so designed ,so,i shall keep looking /,change system.

  7. No, vw never did anything like that!! :)

  8. Cheers Paul at least (with your input) its been shall we say "narrowed down ?( and yeah, you and me both know, there are other ways of describing same,eh)
