Although I agree and its what I've always been told, after the last round of this on here where I painted myself as a smurf , I went away and did some reading, and apparently its a myth - as seen here on the hse site http://www.hse.gov.uk/mvr/bodyshop/myths/myth9.htm and it seem to say its only a dermatitis issue, and not a point of entry for isocyanates. If in doubt though, spray with one eye shut to halve the risk
Interesting. Perhaps a little belts and braces pre-disaster arse covering has been occurring. Better safe than sorry? The worst thing about 2-pac is keeping a clear view of what you're doing through a visor or mask with eye protection but I think I'll keep mine anyway. The first bloke I employed to paint one of my vans 15 years ago retired at 45 because he couldn't breath. Kinda put me off the whole game and I'm a very reluctant painter even with all the gear. And lets face it, I'm a jack of all trades. Painters who do nothing but paint are better at it and get a better finish so I generally pay someone to come and stand in the mist for a few hours - costs next to nothing. That might seem selfish, but they'd be painting somewhere else if not in my booth and they chose it for a profession. If they're not busy I pay them to mask it up as well. Everyone's happy - I don't have to paint, the painter gets work, the customer gets a pro paint job and I get to move along to the next job.
Agree with all of that, and this is why I'm paying a good painter mate to put the paint on mine, £100 well spent. he wouldnt do the underneath or engine bay though which is why I found myself rolling round underneath it covered in paint!
My fav painter wouldn't do underneath either (I wouldn't ask because I know the answer would be rude!), but he does appreciate the engine bay needs doing.
Interesting... although I still wouldn't want to paint with my eyes bare.... I did that a while back, and you can feel the paint landing on the surface of your eyes Well I could anyway The old story I got told about 2k, was that it ate the tear ducts if it got into your eyes
