This is becoming a work of art not an engine. Shame to bolt it all back together really!! Cracking work Para, hope this is keeping your mind off your bus.
Thanks simon It does take a slow and methodical approach and i suppose a fair bit of patience Its worth it though as theres a fair bit of correction that can be achieved to improve flow Are you tapping the manifolds when they come back to you?
I asked LP about a balance pipe and he said I shouldn't need one but everything I've read says I should.
Im not going to knock lauries knowledge at all But im pretty sure you will bennefit from running a balance pipe Do you have servo assisted brakes?
No totally sure what it achieves as surely you can balance the amount of air going through each carb but then again it can't hurt to have one and it's a lot easier to do it now. Was thinking about 1/2" pipe? No servo at the moment. At some point I will change my beam and will get one put in then.
8-10mm is fine. Balance pipe helps with smoothing the idle due to the single barrelled carbs and firing order. You don't need one, but it helps.
Whatever method you use for the take off Makes sure it doesent protrude into the inlet manifold If it does it could have a detrimental effect to all the work ive done so far
I think the idea is to drill and tap the spacers that LP has put between the carbs and manifold. There is plenty of meat there so nothing will protude into the throat.
Apart from tapping into the spacers are they needed for any other reason? Your heads are finished apart from a Final tweak and polish of your heads tmw then they will go through the wash Ready for collection friday if nothing trips me up
