This chaps the syncro guru & does T2's as well so may be worth a punt. Has an exceptionally good reputation.

  2. @Baysearcher after my original longer 4th stripped, i had a heavy duty longer 4th put in. The gear cost £220 so times that by 2 and add to a box refurb cost. I recon you'll be looking at about a grand.

Personally I would have all 4 gears replaced with heavy duty ones plus a longer 3rd/4th but that will cost some bunts.

The guy bus monkey mentioned is very highly thought of in the t25 world. Pretty much all of the Scooby gang use him.

What sort of rpm do you get at 70 now Chris?
Is it a big jump from 3rd to 4th?

  4. @MorkC68 please tell me you haven't paid £600 for a 2nd hand 6rib and then another £650+vat on having it refurbished by bears? EG £780+600 = £1,380 for an as new 6rib?????

I paid bears a hell of a lot less to have the equivalent ratios of a 6rib done to my existing gearbox

Yeah that's about what I paid, more or less!

I've already got a 6 rib so won't be paying out for a box.
I want a scooby box but can't find anyone to do it...

  8. Bare in mind my box is a 5 rib so the final drive will be different from yours, it's my understanding that my longer 4th brings it in line with a standard 6 rib. My rpm at 70 is 3500. The jump from 3 to 4 is fine no power loss.
If I had, had the money available at the time I would of had all 4 gear replaced with heavy duty. The teeth are thicker and quite course compared the the original.

  10. Part of the appeal of the 6 rib 'box over the 3 rib is that they're stronger, so better for Subaru/2L conversions.

  11. I was just about to post a question on transmission refurb but as usual TLB are already ahead of the game.

My synchros are worn and make it notchy(don't even go there!) when changing, especially when been motoring a while and warmed up, so I think a full rebuild of my 6 rib is called for.

i'll check out bears, the Scooby dude and maybe cogbox.

    Muchas gracias
