ok done that - put 8s in as one of the 7s was an 8 anyway. managed to do it without dropping a plug or the socket down the tinware or stripping or cross threading any of them! been bloody cack handed today!
came up a bit short with those then - for some strange reason I have a set of them too! Havent had a type 1 for over 20 years!
Does this mean I have the wrong plugs in mine? I got the JK service kit for my 2L FI - http://www.justkampers.com/service-kit-t2-1973-to-1979-1700cc-to-2000cc.html - and that comes with W7CC plugs. Thanks. Nick.
The "7" or "8" is the heat rating of the plug... The factory plug is the "8" but you'll be fine if you have 7s in there... 7s were fitted to the golf gti TBH that's quite bad of JK for putting 7s in a service kit

Thanks Paul. Sounds like it's OK to stick with my 7's for now, and will then get 8's when I need to change them. Starting as a complete novice with my T2 last year I seem to have ended up with lots of wrong/not very good parts from buying various service/renovation kits etc. - if only I'd discovered TLB "before" I started buying lots of bits last year!!
I did the same! Cheap isn't always best. That said, I use NGK plugs as I've never had a dodgy one in 20 years of racing and I get them for about £1.80 each.
