1964 Lambretta LI150

  1. I had a 1961 Li150 as a student - only fell off on corners when it was raining. I paid about £90 for it in 1965 and sold it for £30 in 1967.

I had an LDB150 which cost me £3. It had an off-road tyre on the back for some strange reason - probably didn’t help much :D
Smaller wheels than the Li if I remember.

Anyone use to slipstream behind lorries?
I had a vespa 90 that I could do about 60 for short bursts. How it didn't seize I'll never know.
I came off it many times, mostly in the wet, and had three sets of forks replaced.
Really wish I had it now.

  5. £3 - a bargain - I paid £25 for my 1959 LD125 in 1964

  7. No - that's just the emissions from the rider when a car out in front of them ( which is most of the time)

  8. I remember riding home back into Merseyside along the A580 East Lancs road one evening on my LD125- into a head wind (gale) - me practically lying flat on handle bars - when a bloke hung out of the window of a car passing me and shouted " It would be quicker if you got off and f****g pushed it"

  10. I don’t have it yet, so can’t get pics. It was moved from my brother’s to be stored at his mate’s because the bloke he bought it off came sniffing the day after Phil died so his family didn’t want it to be stolen.... I’ll have to wait until the current movement restrictions have been lifted before I get my hands on it..... I imagine they are simple enough, just wondered if there was anything to look out for?

  11. While you’re waiting, why not buy 400 wing mirrors on eBay

You could also grow your hair into a mod style so you will already look the part. I vote that you don’t go into this half heartedly. In preparation for getting the scooter you should ditch all your current clothing and order lots of mod outfits and only listen to groups like The Small Faces and The Jam

I had one as a field bike when I was 12. Soon wrecked it.
Never ride one since. Feels funny riding a ‘motorcycle’ that you can knock your knees together, on.

You also need to put Quadraphenia posters up, and carry a pic of Leslie Ash around in your wallet. Oh, and do bungled raids on Boots, late at night, for ‘uppers’!

I do like scooters and long for a Vespa P200e........ I believe this video is what the Lambretta should look something like

  17. I’m halfway there in respect of the hair & fashion, I’ve always been that way inclined anyway plus The Jam are one of my all time fave bands.... Paul Weller is a legend! I had a mate back in the day who used to correspond with him (he choked on his own vomit) & Weller used to respond by sending his Mum flowers on her birthday .... Top bloke!

I can play this on the guitar & performed it at one of our academy shows.... top tune & went down a storm!

  18. Day

    Day

19 years ago the misses and I rode from here (north italy) to UK, 2up on a vespa 50... (with an 80cc big bore kit on)
Nonetheless our top speed was 30mph...it took 5 days, we stopped often!
Later found out the misses was expecting our daughter.
That explained the sickness...and she thought it was my scooter handling.lol.

  19. Can you tell Weller to do something about that f- stupid haircut? Thanks.
