Peace and love all round. Come on chaps. Trouble with email and postings etc is that it is too easy to misconstrue. Humans rely on tone of voice and body language to convey a great deal of their meaning. I'd like to bet that nobody set out to offend or undermine.
Up yours you Tory git! Incidentally, get your arse to Techenders and I will sort it out for you! (norf of the river mate!)
Apologies as I wasn't calling anyone on here h&s or pc brigade. Meant through my work. I don't know anyone on here enough to make those statements. Context is everything. I also didn't denigrate the advice, it didn't, to me anyway, seem to take into account likelihood. I was trying to understand the likelihood. I'm happy with my side of the world and I found out what I needed to. (ie it is safe as long as you regularly inspect, ensure you are connecting to safe power supply and if unsure of the above then don't use it). So thanks to everyone for getting involved and I hope we all have improved our knowledge. I'm out to travel Spain and France in the van. Get called knob jockey for poor language and general behaviour. Enjoy.
Issue parked for me (but not hooked up!). Unless anyone wants some info on Spanish and French wiring regs.....
look you 2 if you've quite finished, im non the wiser,I'm standing here in my rubber pants holding this portable hookup, before I plug it in, is it safe or not, discuss!!
on a slightly different note, i have an invertor directly wired to my leisure battery which gets very occasional use, should this have some sort of earthing to the van body?
generally not as small inverters are a step up transformer and it is earthed to the 12volt supply but Its worth checking what the instructions that came with it say
In summer I get static electricity when I rub things. Should I earth myself directly to the van body?
