Headlining day tomorrow , just read through 81 pages of @Diddymen resto to find the bit where he did the poptop surround, his is the different type Devon roof to mine but near enough Really looking forwards to it
I think you need a lay down now if you've read 81 pages looking at your surround, it looks pretty much the same as mine with only the mechanisms differing. I found the rear corners of the headliner were the trickiest bit to get right on mine as we stitched all 4 corners, where as the rear 2 were glued with a separate bit of material originally. tag or pm me if you have any questions I'm looking forward to seeing how yours goes
Well not quite as much done as if hoped as is often the case, Cab headliner is in but not trimmed finally or glued, leaving it overnight to settle Found getting the front bow to stay put a bit ad a bitch, then just looking back at this pic Noticed the white dot in the rust, probably where it sat originally a couple of inches further forward where the roof is slightly narrower! Original is long gone to compare but no matter it's in now
Not too happy yet, will try and adjust it a bit before the screen goes in Very happy with the decision to go body colour on the grille though Also happy with Schofields, the inner cab window scrapers in the seal kits came without the curly wire, I only found one amongst the bits I'd taken off, phoned them and explained and they sent me 3 good second hand ones plus 4 wiper spindle grommets foc and they came next day
Trimming the Devon roof inside, using the same vinyl as the door cards, think it looks ok Shouldn't bleed through with the glue like perforated headliner material tends to.
Did the job I've been nervous about doing today, refitting the springs in the poptop arms, Actually a doddle, took about 5 mins, got the lad helping but just pushed the top spring in as far as poss then managed to get the bottom one in and brute force got each one to kind of pop in over centre, needed Alex to push against the top each side to balance it out whilst doing the second spring front and back. Didn't need ratchets even! Resprayed and fitted the front bumper this morning and put the lights back in that I'd borrowed for the pickup It's coming together now
Back to the camper , interior coming back together Working on table tops at the mo, got some nice bright laminate and edging
Did you make the swivel out cooker unit too? I'm hoping to do something similar for ours as I like the outdoor cooking option. Is that the devon swingout cooker fitted to it?
Great work on the laminated ply, looks really cool. How do you cut the laminate to shape? Cut it before or after gluing?
