Para maybe you could put a post together of your findings regarding products to avoid and those that are great? I'd certainly be interested.
You're absolutely right para, paying more for something doesn't necessarily mean you get better quality. Only sometimes

Back in the day i would have done Nowadays i dont bother as if you do ive found it ends up in a big disagreement and a lot slating and negative comments which when people do a search a year or so later its no help at all Im not just talking about this forum its a common thing on most forums nowadays Instead i choose to drop my experiance into different threads as and when they come up as questions are asked Im not a restorer nor engine builder nor painter all i can do is pass on my own experiances and mishaps and failings in the hope i save someone else a little time, effort, money and most of all stress Im only human and not always correct and there are a fair few people on this forum and others i follow there advice learnt from experiance
Good evening owen You know ive took all of my parts that werent brand new back to bare steel then etch primed Those that i did that with and used tractor enamel for have stood the test of time those that i used hammerite smooth as top coat have failed
One example to show i do things properly Front brake disc backing plate That backing plate is still as good as it was when it was finished just a little mucky from about 500 miles driving

It was and its stood the test of time Its a shame my hardwork and attention to detail has been let down by poor products But never mind that as it really doesent matter now My kids are growing at at rate of knots and i havent long before the eldest flees the nest It used to be at least it got you here and never the worry about getting home Enjoy the weekend your building memorys People used to pass by and say nice bus i like your curtains and no mention your wheel arch was hanging off Aircooled ownership has become snobby over time and ive fallen foul of it a bit
I wasn't having a go but I could spend all my life taking stuff off my bus and painting it. Perhaps I should do more but life keeps getting in the way. Anyway you've obviously put a lot of time and effort in and want the rewards from that which is understandable and if you've got to do the job in instalments then that gives you the time I suppose. Guess it's just me. I can understand if you don't have the readies to throw at it but some buses are a labour of love and may not see the road......ever! Mine will have rotted away and been welded and filled no end of times whilst thy are still on their original panels and running gear. That's not for me. Don't use it as much as I'd like but I do use it and it's usually ready to go.
Its all in progress dude ive an engine to build yet Are you starting the night feeds or inbetween nappy changes?
