I delivered carpet to the QE2 warehouse on the Quay by your works. Near the railway. I also took carpet onto the Royal yacht B in Portsmouth dock a few times. It was my area in the early 90's. I have loads of mates down there.

  18. Straight demolition is much more humane for those emotionally involved. One of mine took ten years or so to die, eventually nibbled to death in a Shanghai dock. Mind you I never quite forgave Hoegh Ugland (as they were then) for buying one of my early ones, chopping the superstructure off sitting a damn great box on it and calling it a Autoliner.

  19. I designed part of the Royal Yachts ventilation system.
As for carpet I can't remember how it was fixed on warships ... I never really looked at it apart from to check the steward had hoovered it correctly.

I was a shipwright on the Victory and worked on a few other warships & submarines.

  20. Use a Spitmatic gun to fire tipped threaded studs into the steel and apply nuts in the usual manner...next? (on a roll here )
