Redesigning layout

  1. With limited space of the double door van, I'm looking for a fridge with a hob attached on top.. (Combined) Do these exist?

  2. never seen one but that's not to say they don't exist....
We all love redesign threads on here so why not post your thoughts and requirements and we can all throw our tuppence in...
    here's mine:
for a double door make three modular units that can be linked together, that span the gap behind the bulkheads...door to door.....(could be linked via a long detatchable worktop, that doubles up as a table). Each separate unit can be demounted and set up in the awning, giving you maximum space inside the bus when camped up. The long worktop could also be used as a bench seat (across the bulkheads) with suitable support....good party bus!

  3. I was thinking about this only this morning , and would still like to keep the walk thru, so cooker / gas cupboad one side, fridge the other with fold over work top with drop down hanging shelves under with removeable piece in worktop to put one of those collapseable sink bowls in if required , hook on table to door and otherside for inside eating if required .

Ooh - it has a record player on top. Very retro! :)

  5. bit over engineered if you ask me....still got to stash the stove somewhere....and where would you fit the anti static LP cleaner for that ultimate Hi fidelity listening pleasure?

  6. But you dont have a van anymore?

  7. i have a portable windup for my 78s etc as this saves having to put extra stain on the batteries:) and can be placed outside on a nice sunny day and one can jive around the bus :D:D

  8. i told you its still mine i just sold it ;)

  9. Brilliant
Right so I've got a double door panel walk through.
Even though I would love a bench seat up front and behind... I would like to keep the walk through ability.
I don't have the use for a sink as I usually go to campsites with the faculties, or make do with what I've got. I am how ever interested in having a small hob fridge combo but with seating... So keeping the full width rock and roll and opposite having a buddy seat or collapsible bench with fridge and job.

Id like more storage as well... But I think I'm being greedy

    All input gratefully appreciated

  10. it's a state of mind...we all own the perfect van in our heads....mine changes on a weekly basis.....much cheaper than actually driving one around;)

  11. as Barney said....two units behind each bulkhead (removeable would be ideal) with a flip (up/down) worktop between....the idea for the third unit in between is simply to increase storage space....but hanging storage works really well also.

the best interiors I've seen fall into two categories: Fixed, with everything just where you need it, and removeable, where you can set it up as a fixed, or chuck in the awning/garage when required, leaving you with a nice empty van. Great Fixed set-ups tend to have to be of the all down one side variety simply due to the fact with bits of units here and there, you end up having to get out of the van to change your mind (not an option in your case)...
One variation that spings to mind is @zed 's.....where the main unit stretches across the bulkheads....admittedly you lose the walkthru but it's a sacrifice worth making.....alternatively, you could have a temporary in between set-up as suggested.
Removeable units will dictate the type of fridge used....cool box as opposed to a 'proper' fridge.....don't be put off....there are some really decent cool boxes available now, and they're much less hassle than plumbing in a fixed type...take it out and use it as an extra seat or table....
work on the premise that everything you fit fulfills at least two roles....you can't go wrong:cool:
a worktop can be a seat....a drawer (pulled out) can be a table support...a table can be part of a bed....

Who was doing the orange interior that got a thread bump recently?

They had used clips to attach two separate ply units, one above the other.

That could be used to make a hob above fridge type unit with the option of cooking outdoors whenever it's nice??

  13. @Max vw ....
these would be great for the same application:

Devon did a similar thing where the stove unit lifted out and had legs to stand it on...only ever seen one in a Type 25 conversion (Donald's bus @Dicky )

  15. My only removeable is the swingout cooker at the mo , but with a bit of thought /design i think having units removeable or interchangeable ,is a good idea being as they are such a small camper and most have an awning when camping for longer periods . Cooking etc is probably easier in an awning or outside if its nice less smells etc , if i did it id put quick release gas and leccy conns in and a grid so that you could interchange and remove as necessary . I need to draw up a few plans n elevations and have a play sometime , when your going bespoke you can do a hell of a lot more . We find we like having stuff out of the camper for longer stays it does give you more room inside and if you go out just to get stores or sight seeing you dont need to lug stuff you dont need with you , it would also make a good combo work /holiday wagen too , which im sure would appeal more to some . So ............................. good luck @Bobreoc n keep us posted

  16. with a double door, you could have two swing outs....and a fold down bench seat or two buddies with an extra piece to make a bench behind them....one awning and a canopy on the other side.....options! .....joy of joys:D:cool::thumbsup:

  17. i have taken both ,ie awning for door side and canopy for otherside for cooking n stuff before , even without the door it just gives you another under cover area to use .:)

  18. Just Kampers where displaying at Volksworld a replica westy continental sink and fridge unit with a hob built in next to the sink, very nice i have a continental but with the hob in a cupboard. Looked loads better though
