Do you think chips used to taste better when they were wrapped in real newspaper as apposed to the plain paper they come in today? I think they did
yup, some people would save them and take to their local chippie. one of the reasons it was stopped. eww, imagine someone sneezing on their paper which then your chips are wrapped in. maybe thats what made them taste better?
I used to clean my grans windows with scrunched up newspaper and vinager and they sparkled afterwards I wonder if thats the same reason they tasted better?
vinegar is great for lots of cleaning purposes, and bicarbonate soda. i still use vinegar and newspaper to clean glass and mirrors.
There's a chippy in Bridlington Old town who still fry in beef dripping. It's knockout. David Hockney loves it also. (I lied about the last bit).
What were the bits of left over fish batter called that they used to serve over the chips? As kids we used to love those ....
Scraps and ive been in chippys that charge for them now Portions now have gone tiny since the price of spuds went through the roof For me one of the great things about going out for the day or on holiday is the fish and chips We use it as a treat and a break from the food cooked at camp
