The original cage straightened out would be better than the new EMPI – just use the urethane bushes in the old cage.
Today's little job turned into 5 hours. Rear drums from GSF got then for £43 at 60% off, issue with them hitting the backing plate, had to get the grinder out to take off a few mm from the back. After some swearing a tweaking of the handbrake bar thing that holds the shoes they are on. Alot smoother rolling now and handbrake is on 3 clicks of the bar. Winner Nearly ready for Stanford hall next weekend. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
First time at Stanford hall good 220 mile round trip, ace show the amount of cars was unbelievable. Note to self drive the bus more.
Productive day doing the flooring. Laid insulation foil underneath then 9mm hardwood, followed by the old flooring I took out before it went in for its restoration. 18mm MDF for the bench, which in currently waiting to dry after painting. All in all £78 spent. I used stikaflex for the insulation and moulded it to the groves in the floor. Hardwood sub floor is a very tight fit as I wasn't to keen on screwing it down. More stikaflex followed to stick the laminate on top.
Finally got round to sorting the fuel breather pipe, got sick of the smell of fuel who'd of thought. Waiting on a female BSP nut to secure the elbow In the carb and a few clips. But hopefully no stinky petrol smell.
Camper jam was an eventful trip, 116 miles each way on the way down the front offside caliper binded on, managed to find a little spot to inspect, looks like it hadn't been working correctly for some time. It's was the one part I haven't got round to servicing / replacing due to funds, so it's just typical. After initial inspection the caliper was not fixable at the roadside so I removed the brake pads and used some mole grips and zip ties to stem the flow to the caliper, worked great and got my the rest of the way. Couldn't find any calipers at camper jam so had to nip to GSF Wolverhampton, luckily they had calipers in stock, £173 later which included two new calipers and pads. Fixed at the show on Saturday before an awesome rest of the weekend and ready for the 116 miles back home. Great weekend all round. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
It's been a while. Picked up some gas burners recently. Front tyres are far to small so need replacing along with longer wheel studs. Silly me should of check before purchasing but they have always been a favourite wheel of mine. In the shed they go untill summer rolls around. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Hope this helps. They don't look to be the correct wheelnuts for Gasburners - ours have chrome ones like these: http://www.johnbrownwheels.com/products/jbw-nuts---dome.html ** Assuming they are the JBW versions of the wheel I think the issue may be the seat of the nut in your image being stock, its not the same and doesn't go deep enough to seat correctly.
Cheers bud, you could be correct. In going to trial fit them again on the weekend and see what's going on and how much thread I have left due to lack of decent floodlight I couldn't see exactly what I was doing. I found a post on here mentioning the nuts should turn at least 10 full rotations to be safe enough, anything 9 1/2 or less is dangerous. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Also, bear in mind that the torque on the nut seat will prevent undoing too. Better light will help you, its a pain trying to see in the dark
With the 100+ mile trip to diubfreeze coming up I thought I would inspect the slight rumble that has started to show it's face. Time to replace the rear wheel bearings, a s just in time to, the don't half smell burnt and one one of outers is very very rusty. Thanks to the replacement guide posted on this forum in half way through, repack the bearings and reassembly next. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
After the slow weekend of fun stripping the wheel bearings down, I thought for once I would actually take my time clean and paint up all the parts going back on before reassembling. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
After replacing the wheel bearings and going for a test drive, I noticed what the noise was all along. A utterly buggered steel wheel, causing one hell of a wobble on the rear. So out came the newly acquired gas burners, some fresh 195/65 on the rear and she is now sitting pretty. The wheel bearings was long overdue, as bloody hell it's now an actual pleasure to drive. Few issues to iron out with the rear brakes over the next week and bed them in. Hopefully dubfreeze ready. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Dubfreeze was a blast, good 260 mile round trip for me, weather didn't put us lot off. Followed by this week finally completing the carport, no more getting soaked outside. Still contemplating enclosing it a bit more but as per building regulations I believe two sides have to be open. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Haven't updated this in a while, I've joined the cool crew, fitted a 3" narrowed Transporterhaus beam. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Carport is also complete, and a little trip to the garage today to get the tracking done. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Thought I would have a go of making some interior units from left over kitchen renovation wood. Ended up with a solid walnut top and a a cupboard with 2 shelf's installed. Enough room for possibly a fridge, I'm not 100% decided what to do / put in it yet as I ran out of wood big enough to make another door. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Is that with a rusty lee bed fitted? If so what’s the length of the cabinet fin the seat bulkhead towards the bed? Looking good btw
